About the role

We are working in partnership with an FMCG manufacturer to recruit a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join their established team. This position plays a key role in both reactive and planned maintenance across the site, while also supporting a culture of continuous improvement to enhance operational reliability. Salary - £57,750 Shifts - 12-hour rotating shifts Location - Near Rainham, Kent Key Responsibilities: • Provide both proactive and reactive engineering support across production lines, ensuring machinery runs efficiently, safely, and consistently in a fast-paced environment • Diagnose and resolve equipment faults using both electrical and mechanical expertise, applying structured fault-finding techniques to minimise downtime • Work closely with operations teams to coordinate maintenance activities, balancing production targets with essential servicing requirements • Support equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning projects, contributing to improved automation performance and long-term reliability • Maintain accurate records of all engineering activities within maintenance systems, ensuring compliance, traceability, and transparency • Manage spare parts inventory, maintaining optimal stock levels and sourcing critical components to prevent production delays • Champion health and safety by adhering to procedures, identifying risks, and driving continuous improvement through analysis of recurring issues Requirements: • Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within industrial, manufacturing, or processing environments, ideally with high-speed production equipment • Strong electrical knowledge complemented by solid mechanical skills, enabling effective troubleshooting and repair of automated systems • Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, apprenticeship, or equivalent) • Hands-on experience with PLC systems, including diagnostics, fault finding, and interpreting control logic • Familiarity with maintenance management systems and accurate reporting practices • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and prioritise workload effectively • Good understanding of health and safety standards, risk assessments, and safe systems of work What's on Offer: • Competitive salary with clear progression opportunities within a stable and growing organisation • Comprehensive benefits package including pension contributions, wellbeing support, and access to healthcare services • Generous holiday entitlement increasing with length of service, plus onsite parking and potential accommodation support • Ongoing training and development through funded courses and skill enhancement programmes • Additional benefits such as employee discounts, wellbeing initiatives, and financial savings schemes • Stable pay structure and the opportunity to work with modern, automated equipment and technologies If this opportunity is of interest, please apply or contact Duke at Henderson Brown for further information.
