Berkeley Scott Recruitment are actively recruiting experienced Catering Assistants to join our growing temporary team, working with a leading NHS Trust across Preston and Lancashire.
This Catering Assistant position is an ongoing temporary role with an immediate start, running through until mid-October, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right Catering Assistant.

Shift Patterns Available
We have a number of Catering Assistant shifts available, including:
- Monday to Friday – 10:00am to 6:00pm
- Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 4:00pm
- Wednesday to Saturday – 12:00pm to 6:00pm

Catering Assistant Responsibilities
As a Catering Assistant, your duties will include:
- Preparing and serving hot and cold food
- Supporting chefs and kitchen teams during service
- Serving patients, staff and visitors in a professional manner
- Washing up and operating commercial dishwashers
- Cleaning kitchen equipment, work surfaces and food preparation areas
- Sweeping and mopping kitchen floors
- Emptying bins and maintaining a clean and hygienic working environment
- Cleaning dining areas and food service points
- Following all food safety, food hygiene and allergen procedures
- Stock rotation and replenishment
- Working efficiently as part of a busy Catering Assistant team
Please note: This Catering Assistant role includes a significant amount of cleaning as part of maintaining NHS hygiene standards, so applicants must be happy carrying out both catering and cleaning duties throughout each shift.
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this Catering Assistant role you must have:
- Previous experience working as a Catering Assistant, Kitchen Assistant or within a food service environment
- A Standard or Enhanced DBS Certificate (essential)
- Food Safety and Food Allergen certificates, or willingness to complete them
- A reliable and professional attitude
- Good communication skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- The ability to work in a fast-paced catering environment
Pay
Pay rates are dependent on previous experience and the specific job role being undertaken.
