Primary HLTA

Location: Barnsley 
Contract: Temporary, from September to October half term (with the possibility of extension)
Salary: £115–£120 per day

We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our school team from September through to October half term, with the possibility of the role being extended.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality cover across both our Junior and Infant school sites, supporting teachers by covering PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) time and ECT (Early Career Teacher) release time.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HLTA, or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to gain valuable teaching experience across a range of year groups and classroom settings.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver planned lessons across Junior and Infant classes
• Provide consistent and engaging classroom cover for PPA and ECT release time
• Support pupils’ learning and development in a positive and inclusive environment
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff across both school sites
• Maintain high standards of classroom management and pupil engagement

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds a relevant HLTA qualification or QTS 
• Is confident leading whole-class teaching activities
• Has strong communication and organisational skills
• Is flexible and able to work across EYFS and Y6 
• Is enthusiastic about supporting children’s learning and development
• Would benefit from gaining additional teaching experience, particularly ECTs
