Mechanical Design Engineer

We’re recruiting on behalf of an innovative engineering manufacturer seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing technical team.

This is a varied role offering involvement in new product development, engineering improvements and bespoke customer projects within a modern manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies and systems using 3D CAD software.
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials.
• Develop solutions that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost.
• Support prototype manufacture, testing and product validation.
• Liaise with production, procurement and quality teams throughout the design process.
• Carry out engineering calculations and technical evaluations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience within a manufacturing, industrial or advanced engineering environment.
• Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo or similar).
• Understanding of machining, fabrication and assembly processes.
• Knowledge of engineering standards and design documentation.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Knowledge of electrical or electromechanical systems would be beneficial but is not essential.
