HGV Tramper Driver Days (Curtain Sider)

Job SummaryWe are seeking a reliable and experienced HGV Tramper Driver to join our team, working on behalf of A Star Recruitment for Blue Chip Distribution Company. The role involves long-distance deliveries using curtain sider vehicles across regional and national routes. This position is ideal for drivers who are comfortable working independently, carrying out general strapping duties, and spending extended periods on the road with their own assigned cab.

Key Responsibilities

Operate curtain sider HGVs for long-haul deliveries across regional and nationwide routes

Carry out general strapping and load securing duties to ensure safe transportation of goods

Safely open and close curtains during loading and unloading

Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects or safety concerns

Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including delivery notes and driver logs

Comply with all driving laws, working time regulations, and company policies

Communicate effectively with the transport team regarding schedules, delays, or issues

Follow planned routes efficiently while meeting delivery deadlines

Take responsibility for the cleanliness and upkeep of your assigned vehicle (own cab)

Use SNAP accounts for parking and authorised truck stops where applicable

Requirements

Valid HGV (Class 1) licence

Minimum 12 months Class 1 driving experience

No more than 6 penalty points on licence

No DR10 convictions or drug & alcohol-related driving bans

Proven experience with curtain sider work

Experience in load securing and strapping is essential

Previous tramping/long-distance driving experience preferred

Good understanding of driver hours, WTD, and road safety regulations

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Good communication and organisational skills

Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual duties
