Veterinary Surgeon

Our client is a well-established RCVS Hospital Standard practice located in Downham Market, Norfolk, with a second site in King's Lynn. Established in 2013, the practice has grown significantly, now boasting a large team and a commitment to patient and client care, exceptional customer service, and innovative veterinary medicine. They operate 24/7, striving to create a supportive environment where team members are motivated to develop and excel.

The Role

The practice is seeking experienced Veterinary Surgeons to join their busy team. This role involves providing clinical excellence and first-class care to patients, alongside exceptional service to clients. The successful candidate will conduct consultations, investigations, and surgical procedures, practicing outstanding first-opinion medicine and surgery.

You will be a first-class vet with a firm understanding of balancing diagnostic approaches with symptomatic therapy, adapting to client and patient needs. Excellent communication skills, a professional and calm demeanour, enthusiasm, positivity, and resilience are essential. The role requires flexibility, including participation in a 1:5 weekend rota and a 1:9 rotating night shift, followed by a 7-day recovery period. Shifts will be rotated across both the hospital and general practice locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical excellence and first-class care to patients.

• Deliver exceptional, 5-star service to clients.

• Conduct consultations, investigations, and surgical procedures.

• Maintain timely, accurate, and up-to-date clinical notes.

• Adhere to and reinforce compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.

• Collaborate positively with the whole practice team.

• Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and clients.

• Assist third parties (e.g., RSPCA/Police service) with animal welfare.

• Communicate promptly and effectively with clients regarding patient progress, financial implications, and follow-up care.

• Ensure appropriate clinical care for inpatients and effective handovers.

• Proactively develop own skills and complete CPD in accordance with RCVS requirements.

• Adhere to The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Code of Professional Conduct and health and safety guidelines.
