About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for both people and pets, to join their 24/7 hospital in Shrewsbury. This role offers the opportunity to guide a dedicated team of vets, ensuring high standards of clinical care are met through coaching and mentoring. You will be jointly responsible for embedding the practice's values, creating a caring and nurturing working environment.
Working closely with the Practice Manager and Lead Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the clinic. Your responsibilities will extend to evaluating clinic KPIs and P&L, ensuring optimal performance and the continued success of the hospital.
The hospital is a 24-hour facility committed to providing exceptional care to its patients. With dedicated staff managing both incoming cases and inpatients, the practice offers two theatre suites (one for advanced surgeries), a dental suite, and separate wards for dogs and cats, highlighting a commitment to feline-friendly care. The practice includes five consulting rooms to accommodate a diverse caseload, including soft tissue and orthopaedic cases. You will work alongside an advanced clinical team, which includes surgical certificate holders.
The Role:
The successful candidate will be an experienced vet with a strong clinical skillset and a passion for coaching and mentoring. You will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both with clients and the veterinary team. While not essential, an interest in assessing business KPIs and P&L is welcomed. Experience in performing 1-2-1 meetings, conducting performance management, and leading staff and clinical governance meetings is also desired.
