Veterinary Surgeon

Candor Vets is delighted to present an outstanding opportunity for a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established small animal and exotics practice located on the beautiful Fylde coast. This practice, which opened in 2005, has experienced steady growth and boasts a supportive, friendly team ready to welcome a new colleague. Whether you are newly qualified or possess extensive experience, the most important attribute is a desire to be part of a great team. The practice has recently expanded its facilities, including separate waiting areas and consulting rooms for dogs and cats, as well as dedicated cattery, rabbit, exotic, and bird wards. Future plans include a new building to house a brand-new 64-slice CT scanner and an additional operating theatre.

The Role

This is a full-time role designed with work-life balance in mind, operating on a 3-day week (8:30 am to 7:00 pm). The last consult slot is at 5:45 pm, allowing ample time for administrative tasks or an early finish. The on-call commitment is minimal, with just one weekday night on call every two weeks and 1:4 Saturday mornings, finishing by 12:00 pm. A dedicated emergency vet handles emergencies after 12:00 pm on Saturdays, and exotic backup is always available. The daily structure includes one main operating vet, a second for support, and one to monitor hospitalised patients, with protected lunch breaks and time for calls and case discussions.

The ideal candidate will be a skilled vet comfortable with sole charge for OOH cover, capable of efficient consulting, and confident in performing at least basic surgeries.

The practice is situated within walking distance of Lytham St. Annes’ sandy beaches, offering numerous dog-friendly walks. The location provides excellent access to the Lake District, Manchester, and Liverpool, all within an hour's drive, perfect for exploring on your days off.
