About the role

Introduction

Candor Vets is excited to present a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to take on a pivotal Development Team Leader role within a well-established practice in Ashton-under-Lyne.

The Role

This key position focuses on clinical leadership, mentorship, and the professional development of the veterinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the training and growth of recent veterinary graduates, contributing to clinical governance, and ensuring adherence to high clinical standards and the RCVS code of conduct. As Development Team Leader, you will support the delivery of clinical training, act as a VetGDP Advisor, and collaborate closely with the Lead Vet to identify and address training gaps. You will also line manage new graduates and recently qualified clinicians. In the absence of a Lead Vet, you will support the Clinical Operations Lead with the line management of more experienced veterinary surgeons, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Training and Development: Oversee the clinical development and training of new graduate and <3yr qualified vets, serving as a VetGDP Advisor and collaborating to identify training gaps and deliver development programmes.

  • Mentorship and Line Management: Line manage and mentor recent graduates, providing guidance, feedback, and support. In the absence of a Lead Vet, assist with line management of experienced veterinary surgeons, setting performance goals and supporting career development.

  • Clinical Standards and Governance: Assist in maintaining and improving clinical standards, contributing to clinical audit activity, reviewing clinical performance, and ensuring compliance with company protocols.

  • Leadership and Collaboration: Attend leadership meetings, deputise at Lead Vet meetings, contribute to strategic direction, foster a positive team culture, and collaborate with senior team members for smooth operational delivery.
