About the Role
Are you a compassionate, resilient individual looking for a rewarding role in education? Randstad is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a fantastic school in Newton Abbot, starting this September.
This is a full-time position working school hours (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM), making it perfect for maintaining a great work-life balance. You will be providing crucial 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities as an SEN TA:
Provide 1:1 support to pupils with diverse needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
Deliver tailored learning activities adapted to the specific needs and abilities of the pupils.
Manage challenging behaviour effectively using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
Collaborate closely with class teachers and the school SENDCo to monitor and report on student progress.
Foster an inclusive, safe, and engaging environment where pupils feel supported.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, care, or youth work settings are all highly valued).
Skills: Strong communication skills, exceptional patience, and a nurturing, empathetic nature.
Qualifications: A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or Team Teach training is a plus, but passion and the right attitude are most important.
Requirements: A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one) and two satisfactory references.
