About the role
The role is based in Ghent, Belgium. Responsibilities Analyse project requests and define AC/grid requirements in collaboration with development and project teams. Conduct grid connection feasibility studies, secure agreements, and stay updated on regulations. Prepare high-level layouts, schematics, single-line diagrams, and detailed AC designs with technical specs and test protocols. Evaluate technical options, MV/LV equipment, and cable sizing to optimise solutions and margins. Support Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams throughout design, sourcing, and construction phases. Review third-party electrical studies and subcontractor proposals for AC installations. Design integrated energy solutions combining renewables, storage, load management, and EMS, considering curtailment and dynamic tariffs. Ensure technical feasibility, quality control, and clear handover to Project Management and asset teams. Contribute to improving AC design standards and RFQ documentation. Requirements Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Minimum 5 years of experience in the energy sector or industrial electrical design of integrated systems. Strong background in AC systems (grid connections, substations, cabling, routing). Evaluate and compare subcontractors for AC installation work to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with project requirements. Prepare specifications for all AC components, including MV/LV equipment, cabling, switchgear, and protection systems. Experience with LV and MV switchboards, transformers, and inverter technology. Fluent in English; Dutch or French is a big plus.
