LGV 1 Steel Driver

GKH Recruitment require HGV 1 drivers for our client in the Wednesbury area.

We have morning shifts starting between 01.00 and 05.00 and night shifts starting between 14.30 and 20.00.

Duties include transporting steel loads across the UK between steel stockholders, ensuring that all products are delivered before the deadlines given. You may be expected to deliver a coil from time to time.

Experience in transporting steel loads is essential, Shifts are set runs every day with various start times available between 01.00 and 05.00 or 16.00 and 19.30. Shifts are approximately 10 hours per day operating Monday to Friday. There is no roping and sheeting involved as the loads are transported on the back of a curtain side vehicle, though you will be expected to be able to strap load in a safe manner.

Rates of Pay

Mid Shift (Starting between 00.00-03.45)

PAYE – £19.49 per hour (Pay as you earn) Increasing to £21.19 after 12 weeks

Day Shift (Starting between 04.00-12.15)

PAYE – £17.49 per hour (Pay as you earn) Increasing to £17.83 after 12 weeks

Night Shift (Starting between 12.30-23.45)

PAYE – £19.49 per hour (Pay as you earn) Increasing to £21.19 after 12 weeks

Due to restrictions within our insurance policy applicants must have held their LGV licence for a minimum of 2 years with no more than 6 endorsement points. Also we cannot accept applicant with DD, DR or IN convictions.

A valid Driver Qualification Card (CPC) is also essential to this role.
