Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Job Description
Zest Education is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join an inclusive and welcoming school in the Walsall area. This long‑term position and offers flexibility for the right candidate. You will play a key role in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) through both small‑group and 1:1 support.
Key Responsibilities for a Learning Support Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with a variety of SEND needs.
- Work closely with the class teacher to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Adapt learning resources and classroom activities to meet individual needs.
- Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Promote emotional well‑being, resilience, and independence.
- Support pupils in developing confidence, communication skills, social skills, and self‑regulation.
Requirements for a Learning Support Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting children or young adults with SEND.
- A patient, empathetic, and child‑centered approach.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to motivate, inspire, and engage a wide range of learners.
- Friendly, warm, and collaborative working style.

- Working across both primary and secondary learning environments as required.
- Supporting pupils in small groups and providing targeted 1:1 interventions.
- Collaborating with experienced, supportive staff who share a strong commitment to inclusion.
