About the role
Warehouse Supervisor | Location: Purfleet, Essex
Salary: £32,000 to £37,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 4.30 pm
Job type: Permanent, full-time
Noble Recruiting is seeking an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join an established business within the freight and logistics industry.
This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing freight handling, LCL consolidation, container loading and daily warehouse operations. You will ensure cargo is processed safely, accurately and efficiently while leading the warehouse team and maintaining excellent operational standards.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the daily operation of the warehouse
- Supervise warehouse staff and container loading teams
- Check incoming and outgoing freight against shipping documentation
- Oversee cargo inspections, measurements and weight verification
- Ensure freight is labelled and prepared correctly for export
- Plan and manage LCL consolidation shipments
- Assess cargo compatibility and ensure correct freight segregation
- Maximise container space while protecting cargo integrity
- Plan container loads, weight distribution and cargo securing
- Complete final checks before containers are sealed and dispatched
- Maintain accurate warehouse and freight movement records
- Investigate cargo discrepancies, damage and operational issues
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organisation and health and safety standards
- Lead, motivate and develop warehouse personnel
Experience required
- Previous experience in a senior warehouse supervisory or management role
- Freight forwarding, shipping or logistics experience
- Strong knowledge of LCL cargo handling and consolidation
- Extensive container loading and load planning experience
- Knowledge of cargo securing and export freight procedures
- Experience measuring, weighing and assessing freight accurately
- Proven experience leading warehouse teams
- Strong organisational and problem solving skills
- Good Microsoft Office and warehouse management system knowledge
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail
- A good understanding of warehouse health and safety requirements
- Counterbalance forklift experience is desirable
- A driving licence and your own transport are essential due to the location
