About the role
Lead Quantity Surveyor – Office Based
Location: Plymouth
Salary: £50,000 + bonus
Technical Resources is partnering with a specialist contractor to recruit a Lead Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced QS who enjoys leadership, commercial control, and working closely with internal teams.
Responsibilities
Lead the commercial function for passive fire projects.
Manage cost control, forecasting, and margin performance.
Oversee subcontractor sourcing, negotiation, valuations, and invoicing.
Mentor and support a small team of QSs and commercial staff.
Monitor commercial KPIs, cash flow, debtors, and risks.
Support project teams with commercial insight and reporting.
Experience
Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction Economics.
At least 5 years’ QS experience.
Previous experience managing commercial teams.
Background in fire compliance, social housing, or construction would be beneficial.
Strong commercial awareness, negotiation skills, and attention to detail.
Confident with Excel, Word, and commercial reporting tools.
Other details
CSCS or equivalent preferred.
Office-based role.
Team size: around 3 Junior QSs/QSs and 1 Commercial Administrator.
