The Role

As a Customer Team Member, you’ll help create a welcoming shopping experience by supporting customers on the tills and shop floor while keeping the store running smoothly. Every day is different, with opportunities to work across different areas of the business depending on your store.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Delivering friendly and helpful customer service on the shop floor and at the tills
  • Responding to customer questions and promoting Co-op Membership
  • Replenishing shelves and maintaining accurate pricing, dates and stock levels
  • Helping keep the store safe, clean and well organised
  • Helping keep shelves stocked while checking prices, dates and stock accuracy
  • Working closely with colleagues to solve problems and provide a great customer experience
  • Supporting local community activities and helping strengthen Co-op’s community connections
  • Depending on your store, supporting services such as the Post Office, bakery or online home delivery order picking.

Requirements

Previous retail experience is not essential, as full training is provided – a positive attitude and willingness to learn are what matter most.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • The ability to work well as part of a team
  • A positive attitude towards problem-solving and adapting to change
  • An interest in working in a busy retail environment
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends where required

Please note that some store locations may require applicants to be aged 18 or over where shifts involve working before 6am, after 10pm or other operational requirements.
