Waste Operative

We are seeking a dedicated Waste Operative to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with waste management processes, ensuring environmental compliance, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Shift/salary:

• Weekly pay
• £12.71 per hour
• Monday to Friday
• 07:30-16:00
• Immediate start available for the right person
• Temporary to permanent opportunity for the right person

Duties

• Collect, sort, and segregate waste materials in accordance with company procedures and environmental regulations
• Operate waste handling equipment safely and efficiently
• Assist with the loading and unloading of waste containers onto lorries or other transport vehicles
• Ensure all waste is stored securely and labelled correctly to prevent hazards or contamination
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area, including disposal of waste residues and cleaning of equipment
• Conduct routine inspections of waste storage areas to identify potential safety or environmental issues
• Follow health and safety protocols at all times to minimise risks associated with waste handling
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors promptly

Skills

• Mechanical knowledge is desirable to operate and troubleshoot waste handling machinery effectively
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, often handling bulky or heavy waste materials
• Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations
• Physical fitness and stamina to work on feet for extended periods and perform manual tasks involving lifting and moving heavy objects
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a safety-conscious manner
