About the role:
EdStaff are currently recruiting enthusiastic and motivated Learning Support Assistants for temporary roles in a variety of mainstream and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) school settings. These flexible opportunities provide an excellent platform to develop your skills, gain hands-on experience, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people.

Key responsibilities:
- Support learners in both mainstream and SEND school environments.
- Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small group interventions.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where pupils can achieve their full potential.
- Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection practices
Person specification:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) needs or challenging behaviour
- Previously worked in a role such as: Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Care worker, Support worker or Children’s Residential worker
- Ability to engage students aged 11-16 years
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain consistent and structured
- Good communication and teamwork skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident classroom presence
- Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude
Essential requirements:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Hold a level 2/3 teaching assistant qualification, an education based degree, a degree in psychology or have experience of working with children or young people in an education, care or community setting
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
- Able to provide references to cover the last 2 years
