About the role:

EdStaff are currently recruiting enthusiastic and motivated Learning Support Assistants for temporary roles in a variety of mainstream and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) school settings. Key responsibilities:

  • Support learners in both mainstream and SEND school environments.
  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small group interventions.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where pupils can achieve their full potential.
  • Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection practices

Person specification:

  • Previous  experience supporting children or young people with Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) needs or challenging behaviour
  • Previously worked in a role such as: Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Care worker, Support worker or Children’s Residential worker
  • Ability to engage students aged 11-16 years
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain consistent and structured
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confident classroom presence
  • Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude

Essential  requirements:

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Hold a level 2/3 teaching assistant qualification, an education based degree, a degree in psychology or have experience of working with children or young people in an education, care or community setting
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • Able to provide references to cover the last 2 years
