About the role

Job title: SENCo

First for Education are seeking an experienced and committed Teacher with either the SENCo qualification or a strong background in SEN to join a new special school in Wolverhampton, supporting pupils with additional needs, specifically Autism, ADHD and Challenging Behaviour to access learning and achieve their potential.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working within a specialist SEN provision. You will shape the school’s ethos in conjunction with the senior leadership team, oversee the day-to-day operation of the SEND policy, and design bespoke support plans for the schools pupils aged between 11 and 16.
 
SENCo role requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Ideally will hold the SENCo qualification
    • Experience teaching pupils with SEND
    • Strong understanding of differentiation and inclusive teaching strategies
    • Ideally experience supporting Autism, ASD and SEMH, or a willingness to do so
    • Ability to plan and deliver personalised learning and EHCP’s
    • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
    • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
    • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply

The successful SENCo will:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons to meet individual needs
    • Support pupils with a range of additional learning and behavioural needs
    • Monitor, assess and track pupil progress
    • Work closely with the Head Teacher and other leadership team to deliver a robust SEND policy and process.
    • Create a positive, structured and inclusive learning environment
    • Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
