About the role

Role: Estimator – Physical Security Projects
Location: UK
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 per annum

Are you looking for an Estimator position working in a hybrid role? As an Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates for large, integrated physical security projects. You will be working for a well-established organisation delivering complex security solutions, collaborating closely with design, project management, and procurement teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities:

● Develop and manage detailed cost estimates for integrated physical security systems
● Prepare RFQs and RFPs, including cost modelling, Bills of Materials, and value engineering options
● Lead estimating activities for large, complex, and competitive bids
● Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to produce accurate cost forecasts
● Work closely with Design Engineers to validate scope and identify cost efficiencies
● Align estimates with project schedules alongside project teams
● Source up-to-date pricing from suppliers and vendors
● Support procurement with validation of quantities and assumptions
● Maintain and improve estimating tools, databases, and templates
● Identify risks and highlight cost or scope uncertainties

Experience and Certifications Required:

● A minimum of 5 years’ experience in estimating within physical security, low-voltage, or electrical projects
● Experience with access control, CCTV, and network-based security systems
● Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
● Strong analytical, mathematical, and documentation skills
● Experience using Microsoft Office (ERP systems such as SAP or NetSuite are advantageous)
● Excellent communication and organisational skills
● Experience with AutoCAD or Bluebeam (desirable)
● Relevant technical education in engineering, construction, or a similar field (preferred)
● Industry certifications (e.g. Lenel S2, C-Cure, Genetec, Milestone, HID, Avigilon, AXIS, Assa Abloy) are beneficial
