Test Systems Engineer (Mechanical Integration)

OverviewWe are seeking a Test Systems Engineer (focus on System Integration, Verification & Validation) to support the deployment, integration and validation of complex electromechanical systems across customer and satellite sites. This position is focused on field integration, operational deployment and mechanical systems integration rather than software development. The successful candidate will act as a key engineering interface between internally developed systems and customer environments, ensuring systems are successfully integrated, commissioned, validated and supported throughout their operational lifecycle. The role has evolved around a unique capability within the team, providing mechanical engineering expertise alongside practical system integration and deployment support. Whilst the wider engineering team is predominantly software, electronics and electrical focused, this role provides the mechanical systems integration expertise required to successfully deliver systems into operational environments.Key Responsibilities• Lead and support the integration of complete systems at customer and satellite sites• Conduct Verification & Validation (V&V) activities to ensure systems meet operational and customer requirements• Support operational deployment, installation, commissioning and acceptance activities• Work closely with field service engineers during system deployment and in-service support• Investigate and resolve integration issues arising during installation, deployment and operation• Act as the primary engineering contact for mechanical integration activities• Assess and manage mechanical interfaces between company systems and third-party/customer equipment• Support mechanical assembly, build and installation activities• Conduct fault-finding and troubleshooting across integrated electromechanical systems• Develop test procedures, integration plans, validation documentation and technical reports• Support customer acceptance testing and operational readiness activities• Provide engineering support for deployed systems and respond to field-based technical issuesEssential• Verification & Validation (V&V) within complex engineering systems• Strong background in field integration and operational deployment activities• Integrating systems within customer or operational environments• Mechanical systems integration• Practical fault-finding and troubleshooting• Supporting installation, commissioning or deployment activities• Ability to assess and resolve issues across mechanical and electromechanical interfaces• Working independently at customer sites and managing technical issues through to resolution• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to work alongside customers, service engineers and multidisciplinary engineering teamsDesirable• Electromechanical systems integration• Defence, aerospace, maritime, communications or other highly regulated industries• Customer acceptance testing, FAT, SAT or site acceptance activities• In-service support engineering• Systems engineering and lifecycle management• Environmental and operational testing• Mechanical assembly and build activities• Working with third-party equipment and external system interfaces
