Start date: 1st September 2026

Milk Education is more than a supply partner – we’re a community for educators. Join us and gain access to training, personal development opportunities, and ongoing support. We’re currently recruiting for an Autism Learning Mentor to join a specialist SEND school in Morpeth on a long-term basis starting in September. This role is long-term and candidates are invited to apply for any permanent positions available in school during their placement.

You’ll be joining a highly supportive SEND school for children and young people aged 5-19, dedicated to reducing barriers to learning and helping every pupil thrive by recognising and building on their individual strengths. The school offers exceptional facilities across its main site, creating engaging learning environments that support pupils academically, socially and emotionally.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a new educator to become a familiar face in a school where inclusion, consistency and personalised learning are at the heart of everything they do.

You’ll be joining a supportive, inclusive school that celebrates individuality and empowers every child to achieve their full potential. It’s a great fit for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference while becoming part of a welcoming and dedicated team.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting children and young people with autism on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them access learning in ways that suit their individual needs and strengths.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.
  • Working alongside teaching staff to deliver personalised support and adapt learning activities to reduce barriers to participation, engagement and progress.
  • Creating a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment where every pupil feels valued, supported and able to succeed.

Requirements:

  • Recent experience supporting children or vulnerable adults
  • An Enhanced Child and Adult Workforce DBS or be willing to apply for one
  • The ability to provide 2 recent employment references

Benefits:

  • Competitive rates of pay with temp-to-perm routes available.
  • Speedy registration process & fast-track compliance – APSCo Compliance+ accredited for the highest safer recruitment standards.
  • Flexible days and working hours to suit your schedule.
  • Culture-matched placements – we take the time to understand you and find schools that fit your values and strengths.
  • Priority Partnership school network – access to trusted schools who work with us long-term on staffing, enrichment and community initiatives.
  • 5+ CPD courses completed before placement (including Safeguarding, SEND & Behaviour) with access to further accredited training through Milk Academy.
  • FREE PSHE lesson plans and resources, designed by real teachers.
  • FREE Educator Wellbeing resources and access to our community hub – because we believe supported staff stay longer and make a bigger impact.
  • School Preparation Pack with handover notes and insightful school guides – so you walk in ready on day one.
  • 24/7 support from your personal consultant, directly through their work mobile phone to ensure your journey is personal.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
