Residential Support Worker – Children’s Home (EX1 Area)

We are currently recruiting Residential Support Workers (RSWs) to join a children’s residential home in the EX1 area. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

Salary & Benefits:

• £13.50–£14.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)
• £50 sleep-in allowance
• Full-time (approx. 12 shifts per month)
• 24-hour shifts, typically 2–3 per week
• Ongoing training and development

About the Role:
You will support children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), many of whom have experienced trauma. The role involves providing day-to-day care, building positive relationships, and helping young people develop confidence and life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide practical and emotional support
• Build trusting relationships with young people
• Support behaviour using a trauma-informed approach
• Promote education, health, and wellbeing
• Maintain accurate records
• Work as part of a team and with external professionals

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in children’s residential care is desirable
• Candidates with experience supporting high EBD needs will also be considered
• Passion for working with young people
• Strong communication skills
• Calm, resilient, and reliable approach
• Full UK driving licence preferred

Please note:
We are not considering candidates with only nursery experience or solely elderly/hospital care backgrounds.

• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
• Commitment to safeguarding
• Flexibility to work shifts including sleep-ins and weekends
