About the role
Specialism: Intensive Therapeutic Support
Location: Taunton
Salary: £14.45 – £15.05 per hour (£29,304 – £30,521 per annum)
Sleep-in Allowance: £62.64 per night (approx. 4–8 per month = £3,000 – £6,000 per annum)
Hours: Full-Time (39 hours per week)
Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence (Essential)
The Opportunity
Joneshouse Recruitment is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Residential Support Worker for an exciting new specialist residential service based in Taunton.
This bespoke service provides intensive, therapeutic short-term placements (3–6 months) for young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs. The home will support two young people, delivered on a 2:1 staffing ratio, ensuring high levels of safety, stability, and structured therapeutic care.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as a positive role model and shift lead, supporting staff to deliver high-quality care
- Provide intensive 2:1 direct support to young people with complex needs
- Deliver therapeutic, child-centred care and manage challenging behaviours effectively
- Ensure safeguarding practices are upheld in line with regulations and internal policies
- Maintain accurate records including daily logs, reports and care plans
- Support the smooth running of the home across long days, weekends and sleep-in shifts
Candidate Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 12 months’ experience in a children’s residential care setting
- Knowledge of therapeutic approaches and trauma-informed practice
- Resilient, proactive, and confident working in a hands-on environment
- Flexible to work a rota including long days, weekends and sleep-ins
- Full UK Driving Licence (mandatory)
