About the Role
Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a partner organisation for an experienced and dedicated Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home supporting young people with a range of complex needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and resilient leader who is committed to delivering high-quality care, maintaining regulatory compliance, and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the home, ensuring it operates in line with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and organisational policies and procedures.
Due to the nature of the role, flexibility is essential, including occasional evenings, weekends, and out-of-hours responsibilities to support the operational needs of the service.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Leadership
- Hold responsibility as the Registered Manager for maintaining Ofsted registration standards
- Ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
- Lead the home through Ofsted inspections and quality assurance processes
- Oversee Regulation 40 notifications, Regulation 44 visits, and Regulation 45 quality reviews
Leadership & Service Delivery
- Oversee the day-to-day management and administration of the home
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and child-centred environment
- Ensure young people receive personalised care and support tailored to their individual needs
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the service
- Ensure the home operates consistently within its Statement of Purpose
Safeguarding & Risk Management
- Promote and maintain robust safeguarding practices at all times
- Ensure the welfare and safety of young people and staff remain a priority
- Work in line with safeguarding legislation, including Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023)
- Maintain effective relationships with external professionals, local authorities, and partner agencies
Staff Management & Development
- Lead on safer recruitment processes within the home
- Provide supervision, appraisals, mentoring, and reflective practice opportunities for staff
- Support workforce development through Personal Development Plans (PDPs)
- Maintain effective staffing rotas to ensure safe staffing levels and continuity of care
- Promote a positive team culture and high professional standards
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage the home’s budget effectively and maintain accurate financial records
- Ensure statutory records, logs, and documentation are maintained to a high standard
- Oversee compliance records including accident logs, fire records, and health & safety documentation
- Ensure written reports and records meet regulatory and professional standards
Knowledge & Understanding Required
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of:
- Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
- Care Standards Act 2000
- Children Act 1989 & 2004
- Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023)
- Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF)
- Regulation 40, Regulation 44, and Regulation 45 processes
- Safeguarding, behaviour management, and risk management practices
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within children’s residential care
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in a management or leadership role
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- High standard of written and verbal communication
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Experience
- Experience managing EBD residential homes
- Experience supporting young people with Autism and/or Mental Health needs
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Experience building positive team culture and morale
- Use of own vehicle
