Salary: £29,000.18 – £29,722.63 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday–Thursday 9:30am–5:30pm, Friday 9:30am–5:00pm)

About the Role

Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a valued client for an APA Lead – Children & Young People.

This rewarding role focuses on supporting children and young people displaying unhealthy or abusive behaviours towards parents or carers. Working across Hampshire, you’ll provide one-to-one support, deliver preventative group programmes, and help young people develop healthier relationships, improve emotional wellbeing, and reduce harmful behaviours.

You’ll work closely with families, schools, and partner agencies to deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support that promotes positive change and helps break the cycle of domestic abuse.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support to children and young people displaying adolescent-to-parent abuse (APA) behaviours.
• Deliver preventative group programmes focused on healthy relationships, conflict resolution, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers and families to identify needs and develop effective support plans.
• Carry out risk assessments and develop personalised, age-appropriate intervention plans.
• Help young people build confidence, resilience, self-esteem and healthier coping strategies.
• Challenge unhealthy attitudes, controlling behaviours and abusive patterns.
• Promote healthy relationships, equality and positive communication.
• Support children and young people to access community-based services and additional support where appropriate.
• Work closely with schools, social care, health professionals and other partner agencies.
• Maintain accurate case records, reports and monitoring information using electronic case management systems.
• Safeguard children and vulnerable adults, escalating concerns where appropriate.
• Attend multi-agency meetings and contribute to holistic support plans.
• Participate in training, supervision and continuous professional development.

Essential

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Experience working with children and young people.
• Ability to build trusting relationships and engage young people effectively.
• Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
• Understanding of adolescent behaviour, trauma and family dynamics.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
• Experience working collaboratively with partner agencies.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• A compassionate, resilient and non-judgemental approach.
• Ability to act as a positive role model for children and young people.

• This role requires regular travel across Hampshire (excluding Southampton).
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.
• The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
• Flexibility to work across multiple community locations is required.
