SEND Food Technology Teacher

Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Salary: £28,288 – £44,304 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

About the Role

Joneshouse Recruitment is seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND Food Technology Teacher to join a specialist education setting in Doncaster.

This rewarding role involves supporting young people aged 14–16 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and challenging behaviours. You’ll deliver engaging Food Technology lessons that help students build confidence, develop practical life skills, and achieve positive educational outcomes.

Working within a supportive, nurturing environment, you’ll play a key role in helping pupils re-engage with education and prepare for their future.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
• Create practical learning experiences that develop vocational, life and independent living skills.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with SEND and SEMH.
• Create personalised learning plans that promote progress and achievement.
• Manage behaviour positively while maintaining a safe, inclusive classroom.
• Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress.
• Work closely with parents, carers and external professionals to support student success.
• Contribute to the wider school community and multidisciplinary team.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
• Experience teaching Food Technology.
• A passion for supporting children and young people with SEND.
• At least two years’ experience working within a SEND school, specialist provision or similar setting.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• A nurturing, patient and inclusive approach to teaching.
• A commitment to helping every young person reach their full potential.
