Registered Manager – Children’s Therapeutic Residential Home

About the Role

Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Registered Manager to lead a specialist therapeutic residential home supporting children aged 6–12 who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, and placement instability.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and experienced leader to manage a child-centred home, ensuring high-quality therapeutic care while leading and developing a dedicated staff team. You’ll play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day management of the children’s home.
• Ensure the home operates in line with Ofsted regulations and children’s home legislation.
• Provide strong leadership, supervision, coaching, and development for the staff team.
• Promote a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach to care.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection.
• Oversee care planning, risk assessments, and children’s progress.
• Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, including Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 processes.
• Manage budgets, staffing, and resources effectively.
• Build positive relationships with families, local authorities, schools, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.
• Drive continuous improvement and outstanding outcomes for children.

Requirements

Essential

• Previous experience managing or deputising within a children’s residential home.
• At least 2 years’ leadership experience in residential childcare.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, children’s legislation, and Ofsted requirements.
• Experience leading and developing staff teams.
• Experience preparing for Ofsted inspections.
• Knowledge of Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 requirements.
• Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
• Experience managing budgets and operational performance.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).
• Experience within therapeutic or trauma-informed residential settings.
• Experience working alongside multidisciplinary professionals.
