Room Leader

Location: New Cross, London
Salary: Up to £32,500 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role

Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Nursery Room Manager to join a well-established private day nursery in New Cross, London.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident Early Years professional who is ready to take on a leadership role while continuing to work hands-on within the nursery. The successful candidate will lead a room, support colleagues, and help deliver exceptional care and learning experiences for young children.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day running of a nursery room.
• Deliver high-quality care and learning in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Support, mentor, and motivate members of the nursery team.
• Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor children’s progress and maintain accurate observations and records.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, and carers.
• Support the nursery in maintaining high standards and preparing for inspections.
• Promote children’s wellbeing, development, and school readiness.

Requirements

Essential

• Level 3 qualification in Early Years or Childcare.
• Minimum of 12 months’ experience working in a childcare setting.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the EYFS framework.
• Passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Desirable

• Previous experience as a Room Leader, Senior Practitioner, or in a similar leadership role.
• Experience supporting or participating in Ofsted inspections.
