Children Residential Support Worker

Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day care, support, and supervision to children and young people.
Build positive, trusting, and professional relationships with young people.
Support emotional, social, behavioural, and personal development.
Promote independence and help young people develop essential life skills.
Support with education, activities, appointments, and community engagement.
Follow individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans.
Manage challenging behaviour using appropriate de-escalation and positive behaviour techniques.
Safeguard children and report any concerns in line with safeguarding procedures.
Complete accurate daily records, care notes, and incident reports.
Work effectively with colleagues, managers, families, social workers, and other professionals.
Support with medication where required and in accordance with training and company procedures.
Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming residential environment.
Attend training, team meetings, supervision, and reviews as required.
Work flexibly across shifts, including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins, and bank holidays.
Required Qualifications / Diplomas
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (England) – desirable/required depending on the setting.
Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent – accepted where applicable.
Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development or equivalent relevant qualification.
Candidates without a relevant Level 3 qualification may be considered if they have strong experience working with children and are willing to complete the required qualification/training.

Essential: Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly within residential childcare, EBD, challenging behaviour, or complex needs settings, is highly desirable.

Right to Work in the UK is essential. An Enhanced DBS check will be required.
