Are you an experienced children’s residential care leader looking for a flexible opportunity to make a real impact?
We’re seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Responsible Individual to support the registration and ongoing development of a children’s residential home in Birmingham.
This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with an ambitious provider from the early stages of their journey, with the potential to progress into oversight of a second home as the organisation expands.
About the Role
As the Responsible Individual, you will oversee the operation of the home on behalf of the provider, ensuring compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, safeguarding requirements and Ofsted expectations.
Working alongside the Registered Manager and senior leadership team, you will provide strategic oversight, governance and quality assurance to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the effective management and operation of the home
- Monitor compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and quality standards
- Support the Registered Manager to achieve and maintain good or outstanding outcomes
- Conduct regular quality assurance audits and service reviews
- Lead on safeguarding oversight and ensure robust risk management processes are in place
- Review incidents, complaints and notifications
- Build effective relationships with Ofsted, local authorities and external professionals
- Support the provider through registration, inspection and continuous improvement processes
- Attend governance meetings and provide strategic guidance to senior leaders
What We’re Looking For
- Significant experience within children’s residential care
- Previous experience as a Responsible Individual or Registered Manager
- Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
- Proven track record of achieving good or outstanding Ofsted outcomes
- Experience supporting new registrations or service development is highly desirable
- Excellent leadership, communication and quality assurance skills
- Full UK driving licence
