Are you passionate about supporting people to live fulfilling and meaningful lives?
We are currently recruiting Mental Health Support Workers to join a small, friendly assisted living service in Welwyn Garden City, supporting vulnerable young adults and adults with a range of mental health conditions. Please not – this role does not involve any assistance with personal care.
This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for caring, resilient, and compassionate individuals who want to make a genuine difference every day. Whether you already have experience within mental health services or are looking to begin a career in care, we are keen to hear from people who share our values and commitment to supporting others.
About the Role
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping individuals develop confidence, independence, and life skills while promoting positive mental wellbeing. You will work closely with service users, encouraging community engagement, healthy lifestyle choices, and social inclusion.
This is much more than a support role – you will become a positive role model, mentor, advocate, and trusted companion for the people you support.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting service users with their daily living skills and routines.
- Promoting independence, choice, dignity, and personal development.
- Encouraging participation in community activities, education, hobbies, and social opportunities.
- Providing emotional support, reassurance, and companionship.
- Supporting individuals to maintain healthy lifestyles and positive wellbeing.
- Building trusting and professional relationships with service users.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and families.
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to support planning.
- Supporting individuals through challenging periods while remaining calm and professional.
- Promoting a safe, inclusive, and recovery-focused environment.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for individuals who possess:
- A genuine passion for supporting people with mental health needs.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence.
- A positive outlook and the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of vulnerable adults.
Previous experience within mental health, supported living, care, social care, healthcare, or similar environments is desirable but not essential. Full training and ongoing support will be provided for candidates who demonstrate the right values and attitude.
What’s on Offer?
- Salary up to £31,800 per annum.
- Full-time permanent contracts.
- Choice of day or night shifts.
- 12-hour shift patterns.
- Comprehensive training and induction programme.
- Opportunities for career progression and professional development.
- Supportive management team and positive working environment.
- The opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable individuals.
If you are looking for a meaningful career where you can help others achieve their potential, build independence, and enjoy a better quality of life, we would love to hear from you.
