About the role
Support Worker – Assisted Living Accommodation
Reading | Full-Time Permanent Contracts | Days or Nights Available
Salary: Up to £31,700 per year
Are you passionate about helping people achieve their goals, build independence, and live fulfilling lives? We are looking for caring, committed, and resilient Support Workers to join our small, friendly assisted living service in Reading.
Our service supports young adults and adults living with mental health conditions, helping them to develop confidence, maintain independence, and engage positively with their local community. This is a rewarding role where no two days are the same.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will provide practical and emotional support to individuals in their everyday lives. You will help people build life skills, access their community, and work towards their personal goals while promoting dignity, choice, and independence.
This is not a personal care role. Instead, your focus will be on supporting individuals with:
- Daily living and maintaining routines
- Accessing community activities and social opportunities
- Attending appointments and engaging with services
- Developing independent living skills
- Building confidence and positive relationships
- Encouraging wellbeing and healthy lifestyles
- Supporting individuals to achieve their personal goals
Some individuals may occasionally display behaviours that challenge. You will be expected to remain calm, professional, and person-centred, helping to de-escalate situations and provide consistent support.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking individuals who:
- Have a positive outlook on life and a genuine desire to help others succeed
- Act as positive role models and advocates for the people they support
- Are patient, compassionate, and resilient
- Have excellent communication and listening skills
- Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support
Experience
Previous experience within mental health, supported living, residential care, homelessness services, social care, or similar settings is desirable.
However, we also recognise the value of personal experience. We welcome applications from candidates who have provided significant support to a family member or loved one living with a mental health condition.
Through this experience, you may have developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals living with mental ill health and the impact it can have on families and support networks. You may have provided emotional support, encouraged treatment compliance, attended appointments, monitored wellbeing, and helped maintain stability and independence. These experiences often develop valuable qualities such as patience, resilience, active listening skills, empathy, and a genuinely person-centred approach – all of which are highly valued within our team.
What We Offer
- Salary of up to £31,700 per year
- Full-time permanent contracts
- 12-hour shifts
- Day and night shifts available
- Ongoing training and development opportunities
- Supportive management team
- Opportunity to make a genuine difference in people’s lives every day
If you are passionate about supporting others, believe everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive, and want to build a rewarding career where you can positively impact lives, we would love to hear from you.
