This is an exciting opportunity for a Head Chef who wants to work at a medium sized restaurant with an enviable reputation and is part of the fabric of Southampton.

Responsibilities of the Head Chef

• Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient and smooth daily operations
• Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to maintain high standards of quality and presentation
• Develop innovative menus in collaboration with management, considering current trends and customer preferences
• Manage food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations and hygiene standards
• Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control food costs effectively
• Train and mentor staff to enhance their culinary skills and service delivery
• Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service during busy periods
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment at all times
• Ensure all dishes are prepared in accordance with recipes and quality standards

Skills required in the position of Head Chef

• Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment
• Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food production and preparation
• Excellent team management abilities, capable of motivating staff and fostering teamwork
• Proficient in cooking techniques across various cuisines and styles
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
• Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable
• Leadership qualities with the ability to organise, delegate, and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously
• Exceptional communication skills to liaise effectively with staff and management
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
