Casual based working hours. All candidates must complete mandatory induction. This role required an Enhanced AccessNI check.

KEY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
As a member of the Sports Services Team, the post holder will be required to:
• Undertake Lifeguarding duties in a busy leisure facility.
• Ensure that a quality customer service is provided to customers on a consistent basis through the provision of clean and hygienic facilities and by helping ensure that the highest standards of health and safety for customers and colleagues are maintained at all times.
• Help ensure that customers are at all times dealt with in a positive manner and that the best principles of customer care and the relevant quality system are maintained at all times.
• The post holder may assume additional duties relevant to the post as reasonably assigned by the Senior Leisure Assistant/designated officer.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Help ensure that the very highest standards of health and safety for both customers and colleagues are maintained at all times and that all relevant statutory health and safety requirements and Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council health and safety policies, procedures and work instructions are adhered to at all times.
2. Carry out pool lifeguarding duties and attend all relevant training as and when required.
3. Help ensure the safe handling, erection/dismantling of all sports/activity equipment within the facility to ensure that all activity areas are suitably prepared/ready and safe for customer use.
4. Helping ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness and housekeeping are maintained throughout the facility by carrying out associated cleaning duties, operating cleaning equipment/machinery and helping ensure the safe storage of sports equipment, cleaning materials/chemicals etc.
5. Help ensure that all Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult legislation, published relevant guidelines and Council policies are complied with in the operation of the services and activities of the facility, to help ensure a safe environment for both customers and work colleagues.
6. Assisting with the general control and supervision of customers to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all and deal with all customer contacts in a positive, helpful and friendly manner.
7. Help ensure that relevant checks and records such as cleaning checks, accident/incident report forms, etc. are completed in a consistent and accurate manner.
8. Assist with the delivery of the centre programme and carryout any additional duties relevant to the post.
9. Assisting in inducting new staff and any temporary work placement students.

It is essential that applicants have:

 

QUALIFICATIONS

1. A current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification which states a minimum pool depth of 4metres. (If certificate does not state this minimum depth, an additional assessment will be arranged at the point of entry swim test)
Note:
The post holder should be aware that the responsibilities and functional areas of the post may be subject to change as a result of organisational change. The Council therefore reserves the right to change the duties of the post by adding to or amending the range of functional responsibilities. The post holder will be required to be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs and requirements of the organisation.

2. Awareness of Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult issues.

3. Ability to successfully complete Point of Entry Swim Test (will include additional assessment if 1.1 Qualification does not include the 4m pool depth)

4. Ability to work unsociable hours on a rota basis and ability to work additional hours as required.
