About the role

Launch Your Career in Specialist Education: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Chaldon, Surrey (Near Caterham/Whyteleafe)

Are you looking for a fulfilling role where you can truly make a difference every day?

Join us at the ground floor of something special! We are seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (TA) to be a founding member of a brand-new Secondary School for Special Educational Needs (SEN). This school opened its doors in September 2025 in Surrey, and this is your chance to shape its culture and success from the very beginning.

About the Opportunity

This isn't your average school setting. You will be part of a pioneering, highly supportive model designed for young people aged 11-16 who have needs related to social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing, often associated with Autism.

Your role is crucial to the success of our students. You will be working in small classes with high levels of staff support and a multi-disciplinary intervention team (Therapists, Specialists, etc.).

What you'll be doing:

  • Being a Beacon of Support: Helping students with their learning, social development, and overall wellbeing in a safe, caring environment.

  • Positive Mentoring: Implementing a tailored approach to positive behaviour management, adapting your style to meet individual needs, and encouraging independence.

  • Hands-on Learning: Working closely with the teacher to deliver, adjust, and reinforce learning activities and providing essential resources.

  • Safeguarding: Actively championing the welfare and positive wellbeing of all pupils.

  • Team Collaboration: Providing meaningful feedback to the teaching staff on a student's progress, behaviour, and relationships.

Who We're Looking For

We value passion and commitment over years of experience. This role is perfect for recent graduates, dedicated career changers, or individuals new to the education sector who are eager to learn and grow.

Essential Foundations:

  • Academic Confidence: Minimum of GCSE Maths and English Grade 4 (or equivalent).

  • Safety First: A good understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.

  • Resilience and Adaptability: A proactive approach to managing a range of behaviours, including those that are challenging, and a willingness to be flexible in your response.

Great to have (but not essential-we will train you!):

  • Previous experience in a SEND Provision or a setting working with young people.

  • Experience in any multi-cultural or inclusive setting.

Your Investment in Us is Matched by Our Investment in You

As a valued member of our successful team, you will benefit from a comprehensive package designed to support your life and career growth:

  • Fully Funded Training & Qualifications: We invest in your development, giving you a clear pathway to advance your career in specialist education.

  • Enhanced Pension & Life Assurance.

  • Health & Wellbeing: Free membership to our Health Cash Back Plan (claim back money on dental, optical, physio, and more) and an Employee Assistance Programme.

  • Lifestyle Perks: Perkbox (high street discounts), Bike to Work scheme, and an optional Car Lease scheme.

  • Practical Benefits: Free parking on site.
