Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire East

Salary: £22,996 - £25,068 per annum (Actual salary, depending on experience)

Hourly Rate: £12.87 - £14.03 p/hr

Hours: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week) - Term Time Only!

Our specialist independent school in Wilmslow supports up to 50 young people (aged 5-19) with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and associated neurodivergent profiles. We are looking for a data-driven, empathetic, and insight-led SEN Teaching Assistant who wants to understand the why behind behaviour and make a tangible impact.

This isn't just a mainstream supervisory role. You will be utilising your understanding of child development, behavioural triggers, and emotional regulation to support complex learners.

What you'll be doing:

• Behavioural Analysis & Support: Applying positive reinforcement and proactive strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

• Building Therapeutic Alliance: Creating the psychological safety and trust that our pupils need to access learning and develop independence.

• Tailoring Interventions: Collaborating with teachers and multidisciplinary ideas to adapt the curriculum to the unique cognitive and emotional needs of each pupil.

• Reflective Practice: Observing, understanding, and recording pupil progress to help shape their ongoing developmental journeys.

This role is tailor-made for a professional who is passionate about neurodiversity, child development, or educational psychology.

The Essentials:

• Education: A background/degree in Psychology, Behavioural Science, or a related field, plus GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above).

• Experience: Hands-on experience as a Teaching Assistant or working closely with SEN individuals (paid or voluntary).

• Mindset: An analytical, compassionate, and child-focused approach. A strong foundation in safeguarding and child protection is vital.

The Desirables:

• Deep knowledge of ASD, SEMH, or specific learning difficulties.

• A Level 2+ qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning.

• A full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
