About the role

SEN Mathematics Teacher

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time, Term Time Only

Salary: £32,916 to £45,352 per annum (M1 to M6, commensurate with experience)

Location: Mansfield and surrounding regional hubs (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire)

Hours: 40 hours per week

The Opportunity

Are you an accomplished Mathematics teacher seeking a rewarding career transition into specialist education? We are inviting applications from dedicated, high-calibre professionals to deliver bespoke, high-impact mathematics provision for children and young people (aged 7-19) who require an alternative to mainstream schooling.

This role offers a unique opportunity to move away from rigid, large-scale classroom management and focus entirely on high-quality, student-centred pedagogy. By delivering tailored, multi-sensory educational interventions, you will play a pivotal role in re-engaging learners, building academic resilience, and facilitating positive long-term outcomes.

Core Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Design & Delivery: Adapt, implement, and review personalised Mathematics programmes and schemes of work tailored to individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

  • Targeted Interventions: Deliver high-quality instruction via 1:1 and small group sessions, focusing on conceptual understanding, confidence building, and emotional regulation.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with Site Lead Teachers, Learning Managers, and external stakeholders to provide comprehensive assessments, progress tracking, and transition planning.

  • Safeguarding & Advocacy: Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and risk management, ensuring a secure and inclusive learning environment.

  • Professional Development: Engage actively in subject-specific curriculum development and continuous professional learning to remain at the forefront of SEN best practice.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be a reflective, articulate practitioner who demonstrates a commitment to inclusive education and evidence-based practice.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Proven track record of successful Mathematics delivery across primary or secondary key stages.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with vulnerable learners, families, and professional colleagues.

  • A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance (essential for commuting between regional learning hubs and supporting student mobility).

Desirable Criteria:

  • Prior experience operating within an SEN, Alternative Provision (AP), or specialist resource environment.

Benefits and Culture

We offer a highly supportive professional environment that values clinical autonomy, collaborative working, and work-life balance. As a term-time-only position, this role provides excellent predictability and sustainable workloads, free from the administrative overheads of traditional mainstream environments.
