About the role
Aureol Global Connections is seeking a skilled and experienced Plant Fitter to inspect, service, diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of heavy plant and construction equipment. The successful candidate will ensure machinery is safe, reliable, and operating efficiently while carrying out preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, service, maintain, and repair plant machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic faults using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- Perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Repair or replace defective components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, cylinders, hoses, and braking systems.
- Carry out inspections to identify wear, damage, or safety concerns.
- Conduct emergency breakdown repairs both in the workshop and on-site, as required.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and parts catalogues.
- Test machinery after repairs to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and service documentation.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and company procedures.
- Keep the workshop and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Assist with training or mentoring apprentices and junior technicians where required.
Requirements
Relevant qualification in Plant Maintenance, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or a related trade.
Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or Construction Equipment Technician.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and transmissions.
Experience servicing and repairing heavy plant machinery.
Ability to use diagnostic equipment and interpret technical information.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
