About the role
Aureol Global Connections is looking for a skilled and experienced HGV Mechanic to inspect, service, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), ensuring they are safe, reliable, and roadworthy. The successful candidate will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults, and ensure all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and relevant health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance on HGVs and trailers.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic faults.
- Perform engine, transmission, clutch, brake, suspension, steering, and exhaust repairs.
- Conduct vehicle diagnostics using manufacturer-approved diagnostic equipment.
- Inspect vehicles to ensure compliance with roadworthiness and safety standards.
- Prepare vehicles for statutory inspections (e.g., MOT or equivalent).
- Replace defective parts and components using approved repair methods.
- Complete scheduled maintenance according to service intervals.
- Carry out emergency breakdown repairs as required.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and inspection reports.
- Ensure all work is completed within agreed timescales while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Keep the workshop clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Follow company policies and manufacturer guidelines at all times.
- Assist with mentoring apprentices or junior technicians when required.
Requirements
Relevant qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Motor Vehicle Engineering, or a related mechanical discipline.
Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Technician, or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy vehicle systems.
Experience using vehicle diagnostic software and electronic testing equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
Good understanding of preventive maintenance programs.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
