Senior Backend Engineer Contractor
£594 per day | Remote | Outside IR35 | 8-Months

This is an exciting opportunity to join a technology-driven business on a key contract assignment, taking ownership of a business-critical commercial data platform. You’ll combine hands-on backend engineering with technical leadership, helping shape platform architecture, improve system reliability, and drive the adoption of emerging AI capabilities.

The Role and Deliverables

• Own the ongoing maintenance, enhancement, and technical direction of a core commercial data platform.
• Design, build, and deliver new backend features using Node.js, TypeScript, and modern integration patterns.
• Lead technical discussions with engineering, product, and commercial stakeholders to define requirements and solution designs.
• Drive architecture decisions, identify dependencies, and improve platform scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Manage and enhance HubSpot integrations and broader CRM-related workflows across the business.
• Support the implementation of Agentic AI capabilities and mentor engineers within the wider team.

Your Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience developing backend applications with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Proven capability designing scalable systems, integrations, and backend architectures.
• Experience working with HubSpot integrations or a strong understanding of the HubSpot platform and ecosystem.
• Knowledge of CRM platforms, commercial systems, and complex data workflows.
• Practical experience implementing or supporting Agentic AI solutions within production environments.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated ownership of technical initiatives from design through delivery.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to high-performing engineering teams.
• Familiarity with API integrations, GitHub, and CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions.
• Exposure to event-driven architectures, Kafka, DevOps practices, or marketing technology platforms would be beneficial.
• Experience within affiliate marketing, gaming, gambling, MarTech, customer data platforms, or CRM-led organisations is advantageous.
