About the role
Milk Education is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive Primary School in Bury. This position is available from September and would be well suited to someone who is passionate about helping children develop, learn and achieve their full potential.
Whether you have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, are a graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing teacher training, or have transferable experience working with children, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your skills and make a positive impact within a primary school environment.
Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team, you will provide valuable support to pupils throughout the school day, helping to develop their confidence, encourage independence and create a positive and inclusive classroom where every child is given the opportunity to succeed.
Your Role
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the primary curriculum
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils strengthen their understanding and make progress
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and a positive approach to learning
- Help prepare classroom resources and support the organisation of lessons and activities
- Offer additional academic and pastoral support to pupils who may require extra guidance
- Support targeted interventions such as phonics, literacy and numeracy where appropriate
- Promote positive behaviour and reinforce the school’s expectations and policies
- Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents/carers
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment
- Support pupil wellbeing and maintain high standards of safeguarding
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare, tutoring, coaching or similar setting (desirable)
- Has a genuine passion for children’s education, development and wellbeing
- Is caring, approachable, positive and dependable
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Can work effectively as part of a wider school team
- Is flexible, proactive and keen to develop their skills and experience
- Understands the importance of safeguarding or is willing to undertake relevant training
- Holds a relevant qualification or degree (desirable but not essential)
