About the role

Cloud Technical Engineer
Location: Truro, Cornwall (hybrid working)
Salary: £40,000

Focus Group is a £300m-revenue, 1,500-person technology services company backed by Hg Capital. Following our $1bn valuation in 2024, we’re scaling rapidly and investing in AI (artificial intelligence) to transform how we operate and how we serve our 30,000 SME (small and medium-sized enterprise) customers. As we continue to expand our portfolio and grow through strategic acquisitions, we’re committed to setting new industry standards in managed service excellence and redefining what world-class technical support means today.
Our cloud engineering team designs and delivers innovative solutions for a wide range of valued customers, using cloud native technologies (tools built to run on the internet rather than on a customer’s own equipment). We’re looking for highly skilled, experienced cloud engineers to join our cloud practice in Truro.

If you want a fast-paced role where every day brings something new, this could be a great fit. You’ll work alongside other highly skilled cloud engineers, share knowledge and solve technical problems together. We’re committed to your development and career progression, and you’ll learn from experienced colleagues who are passionate about what they do. We care about everyone’s wellbeing and work life balance, and we work hard to keep our culture supportive, inclusive and collaborative, so everyone feels valued.

  • Lead and support other engineers on complex project delivery, and lead a team of engineers on small, medium and large projects, remotely or on site.
  • Lead and contribute to technical discussions with valued customers on requirements, scoping and design during the pre-sale, proof of concept (a small trial to show a solution works) and delivery phases.
  • Work with management, colleagues, valued customers and vendors to deliver solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Provide and document best-practice solution design before, during and after the sale.
  • Deliver projects within agreed time budgets and KPIs (key performance indicators).
  • Produce technical statements of work and low-level project plans.
