Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Working Arrangement: Office-based
Start Date: As soon as possible
Are you looking to build a long-term career in property law, with the opportunity to develop into a fee earner or potentially qualify as a solicitor?
An established legal practice in Greater Manchester is looking for an ambitious and motivated Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants more than a traditional support role, offering the chance to develop specialist property law knowledge, gain hands-on experience and progress towards managing their own caseload.
Whether you are an experienced legal assistant, a paralegal looking for your next step, or an aspiring solicitor seeking a potential route towards a training contract or qualification through the SQE, we would love to hear from you.
About the Opportunity
You will work alongside experienced fee earners, supporting a varied range of property transactions while developing the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to build a successful career in property law.
The work will provide exposure to:
-
Residential conveyancing and property transactions.
-
Property investment and investment-related transactions.
-
Bridging finance and specialist property lending.
-
Specialist property finance transactions.
-
Client communication, transaction management and the conveyancing process.
As your knowledge and confidence grow, you will be encouraged to take on greater responsibility, with the longer-term opportunity to progress into a property fee-earning role and manage your own transactions.
Career Progression – Your Ambition, Your Route
The firm is interested in developing talented people who want to establish themselves within the business for the long term.
There are several potential routes for progression, depending on your ambitions, performance and suitability.
Aspiring solicitor? There may be opportunities to work towards a training contract or gain qualifying work experience through the SQE route, subject to the firm's requirements.
Want to become a property fee earner? Develop your technical expertise and practical experience, with the aim of progressing into a role managing your own caseload.
Already working in a legal support role? Build on your existing experience, broaden your knowledge and take the next step in your career.
Formal qualification is not essential. Talented property professionals can develop successful careers through practical experience, dedication and the right training.
What We’re Looking For
We are open-minded about academic background, qualifications and previous legal experience. Your attitude, aptitude and potential are just as important as your CV.
We would particularly welcome applications from candidates who:
-
Have a genuine interest in property law, residential conveyancing or property finance.
-
Are ambitious and motivated to build a long-term legal career.
-
Have strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
-
Communicate confidently and professionally with clients and colleagues.
-
Can use their initiative, exercise good judgement and manage competing priorities.
-
Are keen to learn from experienced professionals and take on increasing responsibility.
-
Want to develop their skills and grow with a firm over the long term.
Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Conveyancing Assistant, Property Paralegal or Legal Secretary would be beneficial, but we are also interested in candidates with the right aptitude and commitment to learn.
What’s on Offer?
-
Real career progression: Develop towards a fee-earning role rather than remaining in a purely administrative position.
-
Specialist experience: Gain exposure to residential conveyancing, property investment, bridging finance and specialist lending.
-
Learn from experienced fee earners: Build your knowledge through practical experience and support.
-
Potential qualification opportunities: Explore a possible training contract or SQE pathway, where appropriate.
-
A long-term opportunity: Establish yourself within a firm that wants to invest in developing the next generation of property professionals.
