About the role

Bureau Payroll Officer - Poole - £30,000

Payroll is a role where accuracy, organisation and attention to detail really matter. If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, managing deadlines and building strong relationships with clients, this could be an excellent opportunity.

Trial Balance are delighted to be working with a well-respected accountancy practice in their search for an experienced Bureau Payroll Officer to join their Poole office.

Working with a varied portfolio of business clients, you'll take ownership of payroll processing, handle day-to-day queries and ensure each client receives a reliable, professional and timely service.

As Bureau Payroll Officer, your responsibilities will include:

- Processing payrolls for a portfolio of approximately 30–50 clients, ensuring all calculations are accurate and deadlines are met

- Checking payroll information and handling employee data

- Calculating statutory payments, including maternity pay, sick pay and holiday pay

- Liaising directly with clients to obtain payroll information, resolve queries and investigate discrepancies

- Maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring all processing is completed within agreed timescales

- Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and applying relevant changes correctly

- Working collaboratively with colleagues across different departments.

The successful Bureau Payroll Officer will bring:

Previous hands-on payroll experience, ideally gained within a payroll bureau or accountancy practice, with the confidence to manage a portfolio of client payrolls independently.

You'll be highly organised, methodical and detail-focused, with the ability to manage competing deadlines in a busy environment. Strong communication skills and a professional, client-focused approach will be essential.

The role is initially office-based during probation with the option of hybrid working then becoming an option.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Bureau Payroll Officer looking for a varied role where they can take responsibility for their work, build lasting client relationships and continue developing their payroll expertise.
