The company
Our client is a global, service-led systems integrator delivering security, fire and life safety solutions to blue-chip customers worldwide. They are growing their data centre team and need an experienced Security Commissioning Engineer to deliver high-profile projects for some of the world’s largest data centre operators.
The role
You’ll work with the data centre operations team, both remotely and on site at key project stages, to test and commission enterprise security systems. You’ll oversee installation quality, configure systems, support client network setup, and act as a technical expert for the wider business.
Key responsibilities
- Commission data centre security systems end to end: configuration, programming, start-up, testing, FAT, customer training and close-out documentation.
- Give technical guidance to installation teams, and coordinate project managers, engineers and contractors in line with the client’s commissioning process.
- Prepare and maintain commissioning records, including site observations, test results and checklists.
- Work with project teams and client IT departments so that all scope and system interfaces are planned and delivered.
- Troubleshoot IT, networking and software issues on projects, and support the service team on complex calls.
- Support sales and design teams on bids as a subject matter expert.
- Identify project risks early and help put plans in place to protect cost and programme.
- Prepare and review submittal documents, including schematics and technical literature.
- Recommend new products, tools and ways of working that improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
What you’ll need
- At least 2 years’ experience with data centre security systems.
- Hands-on experience with at least one of C-Cure, Lenel, Honeywell, S2, Genetec, Axis or Milestone.
- Enterprise-level vendor certification is highly desirable, such as Lenel OnGuard Expert, CCURE Level 4, or Genetec ETC/STC.
- Training in network design, installation and maintenance, plus other networking, VM or server certifications.
- Strong programming, troubleshooting and IT skills.
- Ability to manage several projects at once and work on your own initiative.
- Excellent communication skills, with confidence dealing with clients and site teams.
- A full, clean driving licence, and willingness to travel in the UK and internationally, including overnight stays.
What’s on offer
- A competitive basic salary of £50,000–£65,000, depending on experience and certifications.
- Home-based working between site visits.
- Travel and overnight allowances.
- Ongoing vendor training and certification.
- Work on large, technically advanced data centre projects with a global market leader.
