This role involves working in class and across the school to deliver classroom support, targeted interventions, nurture and emotional support programmes, and specialist SEND provision. We are particularly interested in candidates who hold qualifications or have experience as an ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant), TALA (Therapeutic Active Listening Assistant) or a Thrive practitioner. The adults in our school play a crucial role in helping children develop academically, socially and emotionally.
This is a highly valued role within our school, offering the opportunity to build upon a well-established and successful intervention and nurture programme that has a positive impact on children across the school.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant who can build positive relationships with children and families and who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
At Oakley Infant School, we are committed to supporting staff development and can offer training and professional development opportunities to further enhance your skills and expertise.
We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who:
- Is calm, patient, nurturing and kind.
- Has experience of supporting children with additional needs and barriers to learning.
- Has experience of delivering interventions to support children's emotional wellbeing, social development and learning.
- Holds an ELSA, TALA or Thrive qualification.
- Has experience of delivering speech and language programmes or supporting communication needs.
- Has experience of administering or supporting dyslexia screening programmes such as SIDNEY, or is willing to undertake training.
- Has a good understanding of neurodiversity, including autism, ADHD and dyslexia.
- Can work effectively with individual children, small groups and whole classes.
- Is able to work collaboratively as part of a team whilst also demonstrating initiative and independence.
- Is organised, flexible, proactive and resourceful.
- Has a good standard of general education, including GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics.
In return we can offer:
- A friendly, supportive and dedicated staff team.
- Enthusiastic, motivated and engaged children who enjoy learning.
