Salary: £90 – £105 per day

The School/role:

An amazing special needs school in Erdington are currently looking for a fulltime Behaviour mentor. The school is a Pupil Referral Unit where students need additional support with studies due to challenging behaviour. The schools main focus is to ensure that pupils are able to transition to the next stage of their education or training successfully.

The successful person would need to have experience working with SEMH, experience as a Behaviour Mentor, foster carer children’s residential care worker ect would be ideal. The students within this setting require someone who is patient and supportive with firm boundaries.

This will include supporting teachers with material preparation for lessons, assisting with displays and providing direct 1 on 1 or small group student support.

The ideal candidate for a Behaviour Mentor role should:

• Demonstrate experience or a strong interest in supporting children with SEMH
• Possess prior experience collaborating within the SEMH/ challenging behaviours
• Exhibit flexibility, proactivity, and patience
• Show nurturing and compassionate qualities in their approaches
• Communicate effectively within a team

A new enhanced DBS will be needed for this role or a subscription to the DBS update service.

Requirements:

• Qualified Teaching Assistant OR Relevant SEMH Background
• PECS and Makaton training/experience
• Level 1 safeguarding certificate
• Recent school based references
• Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
• Full DBS – on the update service
