About the role
Overview
This Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting computer systems, hardware, software and networks while working towards a recognised IT qualification. Based at Alpha Omega Computers Ltd in Batley, the role focuses on providing first-line technical support, resolving IT issues and helping maintain reliable, secure and efficient technology systems.
Apprentices will develop practical skills by responding to support requests through phone, email, ticketing systems and face-to-face communication. Responsibilities include troubleshooting Wi-Fi, network and internet connectivity problems, setting up and configuring computers and mobile devices, managing user accounts and access permissions, and carrying out software updates and routine system maintenance. Apprentices will also assist with backup checks, disaster recovery procedures, network equipment, cabling and technical documentation, while developing their knowledge through independent IT projects.
The apprenticeship is suited to someone with a demonstrable passion for IT, good communication skills, attention to detail and an interest in computer hardware, Wi-Fi and Microsoft Windows. Applicants must have GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above. Alongside practical workplace experience, apprentices will complete the Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification with Luminate Education Group, attending two full training sessions per month: one at Leeds City College’s Printworks Campus and one online. A full-time permanent contract is highly likely after successful completion.
