About the role
Sacco Mann is once again working with an international specialist insurer which has its UK claims team in the heart of Leeds. Part of a Fortune 500 corporation, we have seen the team grow significantly over the years and, following another internal promotion, they are now looking to add an EL/PL Claims Handler to this friendly and well-established team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with some EL/PL claims handling experience who is looking to take the next step in their career and move into a specialist insurance environment.
The Role
You will handle your own caseload of lower-value Employers' Liability and Public Liability claims working as part of a team.
The team works with a really interesting client base, particularly within the care sector, so there is plenty of variety to the work. Whilst EL and PL claims will make up the majority of your caseload, there will also be opportunities to gain exposure to other areas of claims as your experience develops.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing a caseload of EL and PL claims through to settlement.
- Investigating claims and considering liability and quantum.
- Reviewing evidence, medical reports and other relevant documentation.
- Liaising with insured clients, brokers, solicitors and other parties.
- Keeping claims progressing and ensuring files are accurately maintained.
- Building your technical knowledge and taking on more complex claims as your experience develops.
The team is supportive and there is plenty of opportunity to learn, making this a particularly good move for someone who has gained experience in a solicitors' firm or insurance practice and wants to broaden their career.
The role is based four days a week in their impressive Leeds city centre offices, with one day working from home.
The Person
We are looking for someone who has some previous EL/PL claims experience. You might currently be working as a claims handler within an insurer, or as a paralegal, legal assistant or fee earner within a personal injury or insurance team at a law firm.
You don't need years of experience, but you will need to understand the basics of EL/PL claims and be keen to develop your knowledge further.
You'll be organised, proactive and comfortable managing your own workload, with good attention to detail and the confidence to deal with clients and other stakeholders.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who wants to learn and develop. We have successfully moved people from legal practices into this type of role before, and they have really enjoyed the change.
The Benefits
- £30,000–£32,000 salary
- 15% annual bonus
- Enhanced pension – up to 12%
- 25 days' holiday + bank holidays
- Buy and sell holiday scheme
- Life assurance
- Income protection
- Hybrid working
This is a genuinely good opportunity to join a great team with an excellent reputation, develop your claims expertise and build a long-term career within insurance.
